Children's and Youth Choirs

First Church has three exciting children’s and youth choirs for the young singers in our congregation and community. We are currently off for the summer but will resume in the fall. We hope your child can join us!

First Church Cherubs rehearse every Thursday from 1:50 - 2:20 p.m. and perform in a worship service about once every six weeks. This group is for ages 3 -5 and is open to all children in our community. Our 30-minute rehearsals are fast-paced, engaging and fun for young singers. We sing praise music and traditional bible songs and enjoy collaborations with the other music groups at church. Come join us as we praise God using the gift of music!

First Kids’ Choir

The FirstKids' choir rehearse every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. between worship services. This group is for singers in Kindergarten - 5th grade and is open to all children in our community. We sing accessible yet challenging repertoire including traditional choral music and fun praise songs. We perform in a worship service about once a month and are featured performers on holidays and special church events. We enjoy collaborations with the other music groups at church. Come lift your voice with us in praise and thanksgiving! Our rehearsals coincide with adult Sunday school classes, so parents and children can participate in activities during the 10 o'clock hour.

First Youth Singers

This group is for singers in grades 6-12 and is open to all youth in our community. We rehearse Sunday evenings from 4:45-5:30 p.m., right before Youth Group. We’ll sing challenging choral repertoire as well as contemporary praise music. We will perform in a worship service several times throughout the year and will be featured performers on holidays and special church events. We’ll also take on mentoring roles for the younger singers in our congregation as we collaborate with them and other musical groups at our church. Bring a friend and sing with us! We are excited to offer this spiritual and musical outlet to the youth in our congregation and community.

About the Director, Jessica Elder
Jessica Elder holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Arizona. She has worked for many years as a private voice and piano instructor, and has also taught singing classes for children. Jessica has been directing children’s choirs and musicals in a church setting for several years. As a performer, she has appeared in leading roles with reputable opera companies and as a guest soloist with many symphonies and choruses. Her work as a music educator included a position as Master Voice Teacher for the San Francisco Girls Chorus. Jessica is blessed to lead children in worship through song.
